Monday - @ Pattycake - Lunch 11 - 2 & Dinner 5 - 7:30, *1st Mondays of the month dinner will be served at Clintonville Community Market

Tuesday - @ Broad and High - Lunch 11 - 2

Wednesday - No Rad Dog! Wednesdays

Thursday - @ Pattycake - Lunch 11 - 2 & Dinner 5 - 7:30

Friday - @ Broad and High - Lunch 11 - 2

Spring is Finally Here!!!

We are gearing up for another awesome vending season! We have some new menu items, a new vending location, and lots of events and festivals lined up! Are you our fan on facebook? Starting April 25th we will be vending outside of pattycake bakery for lunch on Mondays thru Thursdays and we will be downtown on the corner of Broad and High starting April 29th for Fridays! Holidayville and Holiday Hop!

We have 2 events this weekend: Clintonville's Holidayville in front of Pattycake Bakery and Holiday Hop in the Short North at the Grand Opening of Paradise Garage's new space.

Holidayville will have over 40 Clintonville stores opening their doors to you to promote shopping local. Also a free, historical trolley service! Who doesn't want to ride in a trolley? We will be set up in Pattycake Bakery's parking lot for Lunch!

If you can't make it to Holidayville and you still want your Rad Dog fix. We will be at the Short North's Holiday Hop in the evening from 6:00 pm to late to celebrate Paradise Garage's Grand Opening! We will be set up in there parking lot on 921 N. High Street! Come and have dinner and check out their new space then catch some of their awesome sales. IT'S BEEN REAL. . . TASTY!

Well, everyone, it's happened; Two of Columbus' radest small businesses have joined forces. . . Pattycake Bakery has adopted Rad Dog into their little family! I know, right? I've been the owner/ opperator of Rd for almost three years now and with some personal changes and the realization that I like being part of a business family I decided to put this little puppy up for sale. I happened to mention it to my good friend Jennie and all the lights went on. We knew that a Rad Dog/Pattycake merger could be nothing but a good thing. So after discussing it with the rest of the Pattycake team, we decided to go for it! Some things will change, some things will stay the same. Be on the lookout for the updates. I'll still be working the cart for the bulk of the vending so you'll still get to see my smiling face. And a few new faces as well.
I just want to say that Columbus has been soooo awesome and supportive to Rad Dog and I hope that continues with Pattycake at the helm. I feel deep, deep appreciation and gratitude for all the people who have made this dream a reality. Rad Dog customers are the best! You guys kick ass! Thanks so much. I'm hoping to help Pattycake take Rad Dog to the next level. And I hope you all come along for the ride. . . it will be interesting!

Buns in the Oven?

I just wanted to send out a quick post about all the awesome bread that Rad Dog carries on the stand. The staple of our bread arsenal is of course our whole wheat hot dog buns hailing from the one and only Stan Evans Bakery in Grandview. These delicious buns make a great foundation for our tasty hot dogs and sausages! Then we have the pretzel burger buns for the locally made
Luna burgers and introducing the new pretzel hot dog buns! both made by the lovey ladies at Brezel Pretzels! We will be reintroducing the ruben with yet another bread hear in the near future. So keep your eyes peeled for that on.

This year they have us at an easy to find locale; right across from the bozo stage. We'll be set up next to Pattycake Bakery. The schedule this year is Friday noon till 11, Saturday noon till 10 and Sunday noon till 8. So come and find us, we got you covered for comfest sustenance.

First, the bummer, in case anyone out there was confused, Rad Dog IS NO LONGER AT HAL & AL'S BAR. I know there has been some confusion but we decided that the location was a bit out of the way for out regular customers and we're currently looking for a brick and mortar location near north campus or clintonville. And if you or anyone you know wants to invest in a sweet vegan start up, let us know. We're looking for capital to get the Rad Dog restaurant space up and running! In other news, Rad Dog and Paradise Garage have decided to team up to form a cyclocross team for the upcoming fall season! Everyone at Paradise and Rad Dog are super stoked. We hope you can make it out to the races!

Hal & al"s Update

Well, as it has probably become apparent to most of you, we didn't open at Hal & Al's on the 2ND. But like most great things, it has taken longer to pull together than first anticipated. The new date (which is firm) is November 6Th! It's a Friday night and will be during the Beat Oracle which is a super chill , sweet DJ night featuring good music and some old school Nintendo. Come and hang out, drink a beer, listen to some sweet beats and eat some rad dog. we have lots of new menu items including a full offering of sides (hand cut fries, fried pickles, mac 'n cheese just to name a few). The big new dog item is called the Radneck. We take a beer brat, cover it with our own beer batter, deep fry it and serve it on a bun with mashed potatoes and gravy! Yep, you heard us. We'll have some other menu surprises for you as well so don't miss it! see you all there.

Good evening ladies and gents! I'm the new Internet Administrator thingy (if you want to help me come up with a fancy title, leave it in the comments). I'll be doing the blog posts, setting up a Twitter account, revamping the Myspace, taking over the Facebook and so on. I'm also Rad Dog Jr. (go nepotism!)

So, I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm going to start doing more customer-including internet stuff like questions and possibly a contest or two (I'll bring that up with the Big Cheese.)

We have big, big news here at Rad Dog! HQ; WE NOW HAVE AN INDOOR LOCATION! The grand opening is currently set for October 2nd. So what's the scoop? Well, Hal and Al's has graciously invited us to use their kitchen and serve an expanded Rad Dog! menu in the bar. Updates with the new menu items and specials will be forthcoming. So mark your calenders for the 2nd of October. we're sooo excited!

I'm getting some help! My friend and fellow vegan, Michael McCoskey, will be manning the Rad Dog stand on my days off or on days we have more than one vending opportunity. Tomorrow will be his first solo day out, so go gentle on him. He's was sooo much help at Comfest and it'll be good to have the help over the summer. And speaking of Comfest, I wanted to thank everyone who came out and supported us this past weekend! It was really amazing. I hope everyone had a fun and safe time.

So, Michael will be downtown this Tuesday and Wednesday and I'll be out the rest of the week. See you all then!

Loony for Luna!

Well, as some of you have already figured out, my hunt for an awesome vegan burger has met with much success! I'm proud to introduce onto the Rad Dog menu the amazing Luna Burger (the garden thyme variety). The Luna burger positives? Well, they are made locally with local produce, they're delicious, they're healthy and they don't cost an arm and a leg (and they are of course vegan so they 're not made of arms and legs either!). The negatives? None! Not that I can think of anyway. So, go visit the Lunas at the website and check it out for yourselves.

After months of hunting and then waiting I've finally found a vegan cheese substitute that I really like. Chicago Soy Dairy has done it again with there new Cheddar Teese! The mozzarella had come out awhile ago but they were still developing the cheddar... but now it's here! It's available upon request on any of the tasty dogs, sausages etc. And thanks to all my taste testers out there for trying it out and giving me some honest feedback. Happy eating!

The funniest part is that I'm currently adding some more stuff to the menu, so this one is practically out dated now. The new stuff on this menu include the Rad Reuben, Sloppy Joe and pepper rings is the new topping addition. The stuff I'm in the process of adding will be blogged about separately. And if you're hankering for good music and tasty food come on out to Ruby Tuesdays for the Andy Shaw band. I'll be there, and if you buy a hot dog or sausage you get a dollor off the cover (which brings it down to a meesly 2 bucks!) soooo, beer, rad dog, good music, warmish weather! I know everyone has been wondering about what I'm going to doing about vending downtown now that the weather is warming up.
Well, my plan is to be back downtown sometime in the first part of April. I'll be down there three to four days a week depending on how many events I have. I need to wrap up my current part time job at the amazing Pattycake Bakery (thanks, ladies, for a rad place to work while the weather was crappy!) and nail down my spring event schedule. I'd also like to move one block south to the corner of Broad and High in front of the Huntington building. I'm scoping out a few spots there and I'll let you know the details when I have them.

hey everyone,

sorry it's been so quiet on the RD front but the weather and temps have really jammed up the works. i made the difficult decision recently to pursue other winter employment. all this really means is i won't be downtown for lunch for the rest of the cold months. i will, however still be doing other events like gallery hop and the raddog/stickybun challenge at pattycake at least once a month. i'll try to be as active as i can be. keep an ear to the ground for the things to come.

O.K. so the winter schedule is in motion. I'm switching to only 2 days a week for lunch downtown. I'll be there on the corner of gay and high Wednesdays and Thursdays. I'll be filling the rest of the week with a sweet job at pattycake! I'll be delivering their wholesale orders via bicycle. (thanks for the hookup jennie and sarah!). Keep an eye out for all the winter events at which Rad Dog! will be vending.
I also wanted to get some feed back on my downtown location. I've been kicking around the idea of moving one block south for a while now. I've scoped out a spot on the corner of Broad and High in front of the Huntington building. My thinking on this is simply that there is WAY more foot traffic right there. And while the majority of my business is loyal patrons like yourselves seeking me out and not walk by customers, I think the exposure of that many people seeing me out there would be helpful. Let me know what your thoughts are on the idea.

Well, I'm sitting here sipping coffee on, what's supposed to be , the coldest day of the year so far. To be honest, I'm having to psych myself up a bit to get out on that windy corner this morning. I will be there though, although I'll probably be a little late; something like 10:30 as opposed to 10. And I'll be there till 2ish. So a bit abbreviated but out there anyway.

I wanted to apologize for not getting an email out this week. It's been crazy and it totally slipped my mind. Sorry 'bout that.

Also, I realize that my base of awesome Rad Dog patrons is still growing and our little business is still fairly fledgling. So, understandably, the cold weather has already seen a decent decline in my weekly, downtown business. My thought at this point is that I my need to scale back down town to about 2 days a week 'till spring. And I would find supplementary revenue streams to fill in the gap. I'd like to put it out there to you guys and ask what you think I should do. Should I scale back? What other work could I do? Are there other Rad Dog related ways to fill in the winter gap? Any ideas would be really appreciated. And since I work for myself, I really work for you guys. So, that's about it. hope to here from everyone.

Did you say FREE!!!

That's right! FREE!!! On Monday and Tuesday of this week Tawd will be setting up in front of Huntington Bank near the OSU campus for back-to-school week. On Monday it will be the 17th and High location and on Tuesday it will be the South Campus Gateway location (we might even be able to push the cart from our house for that one!). The first 100 customers each day will get a free hot dog courtesy of the good folks at Huntington. Sorry toppings fans, ketchup and mustard only on Huntington days. It's not like they're made of money... Oh, wait...
But how cool is Huntington for getting Rad Dog! instead of meat dog? You go, Huntington!

Monday @ the Courthouse!

We've had several requests to set up near the courthouse, so we're gonna do a little guest appearance on Monday (we'll be at the regular spot for the rest of the week). The courthouse "proper" is prime vending territory, and you have to win a vendor "lottery" to park there, so we'll be sort of close. We'll be on the east side of High, 1/2 a block north of Mound (just south of Main). Clear as ketchup? Hopefully we won't piss off any indigenous vendors. It could get ugly. Bring your cameras...

I'm a little late to post this, but Rad Dog! has been getting noticed! This is super exciting!!! First, we were featured in the cover story of last week's Alive article about hot dogs (ask Tawd about that, it's a true story of divine intervention), THEN some amazing folks, Jim, Mary, and Zach, from Columbus Foodcast came by the Pattycake opening on July 12th and taped a mini podcast. It's super fun to listen to (o.k., I'm biased)!
Thanks everyone for all of your support (I can't say this enough). This venture really seems to be working! YAY!

Tawd and I were so utterly verklempt at the response to our grand opening today at Pattycake Vegan Bakery. We had NO idea what to expect. We were greeted with huge amounts of love and support today which makes this investment and sacrifice totally worth it. We especially want to thank Jennie and Seth from Pattycake for hosting the event and for all of the help making our little business possible. We also want to thank Sarah (also from Pattycake) for just being so incredibly Rad. And Mike and Heather, you guys totally Rock!? Thanks also to Daniel from Skreened. You are so amazing, and I can't wait to hang out more with your new little family.
And for everyone else who came out today and for all of you who have shown your support thus far, we are SOOOO blessed to have you be a part of this experience with us. We look forward to a long, rad future together.
